As far as I know, you do need to load the driver. You *might* be able to do it from a USB drive. Otherwise, cough up the $7 for a floppy drive, borrow one from a friend, or make a slipstream XP install CD with the drivers you need on it.

You can get the SATA install disk here.

A way of getting around in the "no (working) floppy club" (member since 2003) is to slipstream your XP installation. Try a program called Nlite (http://nuhi.msfn.org/) to integrate "Text Mode Drivers" into a customized WinXP install disk. When nlite asks for drivers, point them to the downloaded ones from your mobo's website and let it fly.

Burn the custom ISO and install from your personalized WinXP cd.

There are tons of other options, but if all you need to do is get sata drivers, just do the text-mode thing. dont futz around with the other features unless you have spare time.

There are other programs out there that do the same thing, this was the first one I found, this is a program I have physically used and gotten to work the first time "out of the box" so-to-speak.

ok kewl, i have used nlite before and love it, but never tried adding drivers to it, i lost my original xpcd, only have the nlite one with sp2 on it, will i be able to just use that cd and add the drivers to it?

well i cant get nlite to make the iso, when i add in drivers it gives me an error and i have to start the whole nlite process over again, i dont know if im doing it right, i got the drivers from abit's website, the INF files, i add one to the list then it starts and about 1/2 way through it gives me an error, forget what it was...

Make sure that the drivers are signed. If they're not it'll fail.
