I recently bought a new ATX mid-tower (full mid) case and also bought a new floppy drive to go with it. Since the case is black/silver, the new drive has a black faceplate. The DIQ (Drive In Question) is the topic title's SAMSUNG SFD-321B OEM drive. The drive appears to be a standard 3.5" floppy with standard disk support (double and high densities, but no extended density or SuperDisk support). The Q's have to do with setting up the drive in the BIOS of my ASUS 800E Deluxe.
1. Does the drive include Mode 3 support? (Naturally, if it does, I will need to select YES here.)
2. Are there *backward compatibility* issues with this drive and older motherboards? (The drive has the same connect point, but uses fewer pins on the data side.)
3. Does the fewer data pins mean I will need a special cable? I had planned to use the floppy cable that came with the ASUS.)
