Picking up a new router today after work.
N750 Wireless N Dual Band Gigabit Router.
Any other recommendations?

Devices are as follows:
2 Desktops.
3 Laptops
4 Phones/Tablets
1 Network BluRay player
1 Xbrox 360.

I have a switch.

Budget up to 100, Microcenter or TigerDirect, I will not go to Best Buy but will price match against them.

Try the router recommendation thread.....

Here's one of my recent comments:

Just came across this, might helps those looking for a new router...AVS: 5 Best Wireless Routers For Your Money
Though going by some of their choices I think they might be a tad too consumer and not enthusiast like [H] seems to be ;)

Since I've used all of these.... I can actually generally agree with this review.

Although I would only recommend the netgear 3700 in version 1 form.

And the Zyxel USG100 has more than enough features to be considered [H]ard

Yep.

I just retired (Going to Sell) my Netgear WNDR-4500 (N900) because even after having it replaced, I continue to have issues with it. The primary being it has issues with forgetting how to resolve DNS randomly, and it has periods of high packet loss when online gaming. Both routers have done exactly the same thing.

The WNDR-3700 I have and will keep as a backup has been outstanding in every way so I was really disappointed in this one.

I installed an ASUS RT-AC66R (The RT-AC66U is the same Router). This thing is lightning fast, and so far I've had zero issues with it.

For the first time I am nearly saturating my 1Gb network transferring files from my workstation to a Server 2012 box. 115-120MB/Sec.

I'm very impressed with it. Cost is around $200.

You can save a little bit by getting the N66U instead. It doesn't have the new AC Wireless (not that big a deal right now) and there's some other cloud features introduced in the AC66 it doesn't have. Performance wise I think they are pretty close.

The N66U is a very well liked router.

You're not gonna toss this thing in a closed cabinet though. They do tend to run hot.

Only the NetGear is under 100, and available at microcenter.
Is it really 30 bucks better than the TP-Link?
And do I verify Version without opening the box?

Hmm I guess I can't put ddwrt on the TP-Link, but I can on the NetGear. That right there would be enough.

Ralink platform is still very unstable using plain open source without any binary blobs and I doubt you'll notice a huge difference compared to the Atheros platform especially if you're going for a 3rd party firmware. Any reason why OpenWRT wont do?

DD-WRT is the only one I have ever used.
I just would like a rainy day project if the mood strikes.

Go for a Atheros based platform in that case since its all open source, Ralink still relies on binary blobs to actually work decently on 3rd party firmwares and that might hold you back in the end. Using it as a NAS will result in about 10mbyte/s FWIW.

Is that the TP Link or the NetGear?

For right now I want a good out of the box experience.
That will handle a 25meg internet connection.

nm looks like Atheros is the TP-Link.
I will pick that one up.
Going to be interesting to use a non linksys router.

Picked up the TP-Link working good so far, quick setup.
Looking at the GUI, its a lot but looks to have a decent amount of features.

Anything you can find with the most features honestly or one you might be comfortable flashing with software to save money to say, tomato or WW-DRT.. I love anything port forwarding friendly & allowing/blocking mac addresses for each device in my network is extra security. You be surprised how often people want to steal your wifi signal

Cool glad you found a router that works for you.

I was going to say you do not need to pay a premium for a tri band router if all your devices use 2 or less radios.
