1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
All of the above; it's a general purpose machine with a heavy lean towards PC gaming, specifically MMORPGs.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Bang for the buck within an unlimited budget but just because I can spend it doesn't mean I want to.

3) Where do you live?
Austin TX - No microcenter =(

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
PSU, CPU, MOBO, GPU, Case

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
8GB (2 x 4GB) CORSAIR Vengeance 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
1x Corsair Force CSSD-F120GB2-BRKT 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (boot)
1x WD Velociraptor 300GB (most of my data is kept on my 4tb NAS, would like to pick up a cheap'ish' 1TB+ drive in the future)

6) Will you be overclocking?
I'll be dabbling to see what I can get but it's not a focus of the machine.

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
24" 1920x1080 (res I use) - always want to have more or go bigger in the future.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
I've ordered it ALL! =)

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
No need for Raid (have a NAS) or Firewire and don't NEED to have dual card solution; i'm totally fine with a single card solution in the future but would eventually run a dual card setup if I can squeeze it)

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Win7U64

What I want is a QUIET PC (hence the corsair cooler/PSU and Silverstone case) for a change without too much sacrifice in performance. I've a small workspace, hence the micro-build, so I'm not going for ZOMG SLI-PEEN numbers ;) cost-wise I'm trying to keep it modest without cutting too many corners (just about everything has a rebate or code applied) and of course, having it all fit in the trash can ;).

Here's what I'm building/have already ordered:

Silverstone FT03-Black from Frozencpu.com @ $180.05 (after 5% off code) - Shipping direct from Silverstone... apparently the one on hand was damaged...
ASUS p8p67-m Pro from compuplus.com (everyone else cancelled the order, website says 'shipped' so we'll see, after that I'll grab it off ebay I guess)
Intel i5-2500K from Amazon @ $224.99 - Amazon shipped it out before the cutoff! W00T!
HIS HD 6950 from Newegg @ $259.99 (After rebates)
Corsair AX850w PSU from Newegg $169.99 (instant+rebate)
Panasonic UJ-875-A SATA Slimline Slot-Loading DVD Writer from Logic Supply @ $69 ($2 cable adapter from Amazon)
Corsair Hydro H70 (probably overkill but w/e)

Already have the RAM and HDDs in hand.

Please answer the sticky from the general hardware forum to make it easier on us to help.

Wait so you've ordered everything and have parts that are being reused already? Sooo what do you need help with exactly...

Comments or issues I might not be seeing (especially with working with a small form factor for the first time).

Sanity check basically =D

Yeah, it looks like a really solid build. I can't really say anything about the case though since it's new. I'm looking forward to seeing a few more builds using it. Wish I could grab one, but I can't justify spending that much on a case right now.

Yea I cant get over that case design.. I Really really dont like it because the cables come out the top of the case. If it was reversed & they came out the bottom I would dig it though..

I had a FT02 to check out and the cables just ran out the top/back through an opening; it didn't disrupt the look or placement as they were in the back. I don't think it will be an issue for me with this case, especially due to it's placement.

Yea you could easily enough get them to route down the case so they come off the bottom, But I have always hated tall narrow cases for the cable's being seen & in this case ti would be worse yet since all the cables off out the very top.

I Do have to admit though its a nice looking case.

True enough, though you'd lose some length with the mobo being rotated the way it is.

It's love or hate with this thing but it I really like the look and it's perfect for where I need to place a PC.

Nice Grats on the build looks solid!

Would appreciate pictures of the case and system when you go to build it out. :D

Looks like I'm going to have to wait a little longer, the e-tailer I purchased the case from called to let me know that the one they had 'in stock' was damaged and that Silverstone will be sending it out directly when they receive their next shipment, which should be on the third. Bummer as everything else will have arrived by then and I will be sans computer in a few days!

Can always set it up to test without the case, good idea to do so anyways to make sure everything works before mounting in a case!

BTW, did mwave cancel your P8P67-M Pro order? They did to me.

Also, I'm sure you've heard by now of the Sandy Bridge SATA II design error?

IMHO thats a horrible ideal. Your more likely to break shit when connecting & disconnecting so do it once & your less likely to break shit.

Now if your hooking it up to play with because you dont have the case yet thats another thing all together. I have no issue with that, But just to do because..

Yes, Mwave cancelled my order - i had ordered it from Microcenter that same day (which is why I was cancelling from mwave in the first place). Microcenter has the shipment on hold and according to their CS rep they will sending out emails stating the cancellation of the order. Sucks as i had one in my cart with NE ready to go as soon as I got the in stock notification.

Now I don't know what to do. Amazon shipped my 2500K, it's with UPS in an OK facility and the rest of my parts are coming as well - only thing I can think of is finding the board via a smaller shop (which will cost more) provided they would even sell it. EDIT: Looks like everyone is pulling it or has pulled it, even the small e-tailers - im sure I can return the cpu to amazon due to the SB issue...but that leaves me with a 100% brand new machine....sans mobo/cpu!

Hmm, I am trying to remember if I have ever broken any computer component in the ~15 years I've been building them myself... nope, none.

I am in the same boat -- well, Amazon is still in the "shipping soon" phase for both the processor and mobo. The case and HSF have shipped, but those aren't items that will depreciate quickly so not a big deal, as I do plan on using them as soon as Sandy Bridge is back in production if my CPU/mb don't ship. Sucks to be in limbo though.

Amazon shipped my 2500K out before the recall (with prime) but it's stuck in OK with UPS due to weather (DVD adapter cable is stuck in another city)...GPU, PSU, Internal DVD all arrived today (ram and HDDs in hand as well)...case was delayed too due to damage so it's shipping from Silverstone instead of Frozencpu..Hydro H70 should be here tomorrow...I did find an e-tailer that sold me one through googlecheckout and the status reads 'shipped' and they charged me for it, so we'll see...after that its ebay time.

It's all a big mess :)

Sucks, I was hoping to be building this weekend as I am sending my laptop back to Alienware to be serviced and will have internet via my phone only =D

the HIS 6950 is shiiiiiny, PSU too very exciting =D

Well it looks like I'm dead in the water. The mobo was also pulled from ebay..my only hope it the one etailer that needs to check with its Warehouse to see if the board actually was shipped or not....

Damn man, sorry to hear that. Good luck finding an matx board. I've managed to find a few people selling atx P67s but no matx :(

Hahah, oh god, now I'm really confused. My 2500k has now shipped according to Amazon, tracking number and all, but my P8P67-M Pro is still in Preparing Shipment. Previously I got emails from them saying both orders were delayed due to inclement weather. LOL

Guess that puts me in the same boat as you :)

My CPU is still sitting in OK...and I'm having zero luck finding anyone (understandably so) selling a Micro atx...As I was typing this I received my tracking info for the p8p67pro from one of the numerous etailers I ordered from, apparently it processed one 02.01 and shipped on 02.02 for arrival on 02-07, probably around the time the case (still no tracking), cpu and adapter cable for the DVD drive arrive...everything else is in hand (Hydro H70 arrived today).

Here's hoping!

Hah, well if you end up with an extra and mine gets canceled I'll gladly buy one!

Ugh, well the one P8P67-M Pro that actually made it out to UPS has gone from 'weather delayed' to 'exception'

From UPS

Exception Notification*: Notifies you when and why a shipment will not meet its original scheduled delivery date, and provides a rescheduled date of delivery...

So I still have two other packages out in the void delayed due to weather yet the mobo is the only one with an exception (it also shipped out later)...the shop that shipped the mobo had mentioned she would need to issue a return once it arrived (due to recall)...I hope they haven't killed the shipment and asked for it to be returned from UPS...is that possible once it's out of state/on the truck?

Yeah, the shipment can be called back up until either it gets delivered or the truck leaves for delivery, forget which. Not sure about all the couriers but I know UPS does that.

Well the mobo status reads:

Mesquite, TX, United States 02/04/2011 8:00 A.M. Emergency conditions beyond UPS' control.

However, I have another item in Mesquite that hasn't been updated since Tuesday, 02/01/2011

I'll assume Emergency conditions is really weather based on the current storm and on googling that phrase....must build new rig - what a horrible time to build a rig, winter storm and SB recall and my Laptop being sent back for service!

Yeah, got this for the PSU I ordered from NewEgg:

I've that same msg one 3 items as well...I'm more concerned about the EXCEPTION flag my mobo has...

Clearly they haven't updated all the notifications 100% one still flagged with adverse weather conditions is sitting here in Austin already (maybe) and was supposed to arrive on the 8th...

If it was being sent back to Newegg or wherever it's coming from, the status should say "Returning to sender" or something along those lines. Forget the exact wording, only had it happen once. It probably is just delayed due to the crazy weather going on over there.

Yeah I figured that but I've got a different order also stuck in Mesquite TX that only has the adverse weather conditions; I wouldn't be so worried but finding a matx for sb, especially now...

From the shipper of the p8p67-m PRO

Thank you for contacting our company! The shipment seems to be delayed due to adverse weather conditions. Your package should be delivered shortly. Thank you for shopping with us!

Looks like I'm in the clear!

Grats, hope you end getting everything you need for your build.

My P8P67-M Pro is still "Shipping soon" from Amazon/Electronica Direct -- been like that for almost a week. Argh!

Wellp my mobo order got canceled because they oversold it due to an "inventory error". You got another on the way? :p

Think I'll just cut my losses and return the 2500K and get a P45 board to tide me over until Sandy Bridge v2 or Ivy Bridge even.

Ugh, that sucks! Sorry, Blahman.

Just one is headed my way it seems, though still delayed due to weather...looks like I'll be building mid-week if UPS updates tracking...

Well the rest of my components arrive today...except the mobo, it's still labeled 'Exception' via UPS and the Last Location: Mesquite, TX, United States, it has been that way for days now! I wonder if they lost it...

Tigerdirect has the Intel boxdp67de matx in stock with five dollars off via Google checkout ...just ordered one to be safe.

I'd be making some phone calls because thats starting to sound not too good. I hope I'm wrong though.

I called UPS, they don't have an update for me except what is listed on their sites tracking page. Weather is the excuse and they are backed up.
