nope. board, chip and ram at a minimum.
edit: well maybe used you could get a board and chip. but nothing new would be ddr3.

ok. so, which set from the 9th gen and 8th gen will be most compatible together? i got r9 390x but i plan to change it with a new nvidia. consider a budget.

yeah, it's doable if you live near a microcenter. $80 for the ryzen 1600, $90 or less for a b450 motherboard and $80 for ddr4 3200 16gb minus the $30 combo discount.

Holy cow - just go get an SSD and call it a day. It will seem like a brand new computer.

$250 would get you a new GPU, but it wouldn't be too much better than your 390. $250 won't do much for your CPU given your stuck on DDR3.

Get the SSD and be happy.

I agree, an SSD would be a good addition.

And a better PSU since you mentioned in another thread you've noticed instability since installing the 390X

and if you are really wanting a CPU upgrade, a used i7 4770K/4790K would be a bit of an upgrade from the CPU you have now.
