I'm on a...loose budget. I rarely use speakers with the computer I'm on right now (usually have my headset on when I'm gaming), so I'll probably grab some speakers in a year or two. I'm probably missing something I need for my new computer as well...I need to get a sata cable for my hard drive since it's OEM I believe. The stores around here have hard drives selling for cheap though, so I'll probably pick up something around here.
So what do you guys think?

Drop the monitor...got a 17 inch samsung LCD monitor today at bestbuy. 12 ms response time! good for gaming. Normally 420 dollars, but it came with a 170 dollar rebate that I'm sending out on monday

You can get a 90nm socket 939 3000+ for under $150, and a mobo for ~$100 too. I would go with that, personally.

I may look into it. The motherboard + processor combo I have chosen gets me a free copy of far cry. 754s are still solid .

True, but if you are overclocking, the 90nm 939's rock. They also run cooler.

Well, I've built my rig.
I used this case:

Cut the powerstrip out and the CRT monitor out of the picture.
Picked up a samsung 17 inch lcd at bestbuy. 420 bucks, with 170 mail-in-rebate . 712n syncmaster or something silly like that.
The building process itself went relatively good. I couldn't hook the front LED wire up on the motherboard without cracking the plastic protecting cover deal, I'll mess with that later. My dracula case will go without the scary eyes for a week or so I guess. I'm having problems with the SATA hard drive though. My crappy dell I'm typing on right now won't read my motherboard's CD (all the drivers and other utilities are on it), so I'm going to take the hard drive out and hook it up to my new rig and set that stuff up. Hopefully all will go well.
After I settle it in, it'll be time for some overclockage
