Helping a friend pick out some parts for his new setup.. so far this is what he plans on running. I need to know if this is all compatable. He doesnt plan on overclocking but I want him to have the parts to be able to do so incase he changes his mind later on.

E6400 TT big Typhoon or Scythe Ninja
Gigabyte 965P DS3
Team Memory DDR2 800 4-4-4-10 (2G Kit)
EVGA 7950 GX2
Raptor 74 Gig
NEC 3550A or higher model

Had some concerns on the mobo becuase newegg has this listed in its specs...

Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets.

Just curiuos if the memory is going to be an issue on this board? The Asus PW5 DH Dlx looks nice also but a lot more expensive.. thanks for any input.

I cant find memory with the timings you listed on supertalents web site. However sellers often screw up the timings in the product ads.

If you are using this, I would think its ok as it says its verified on the DQ6.

However you will have to up the memory voltages and manually set the timings after you first get it to boot.

There are a zillion threads on the DS3 and memory

What case and power supply will he be using?

Everything else looks good, but the memory I know nothing about. I am not sure if it will work or not.

OCZ Gamer Extreme 600 for the PSU.. forgot to mention that. He is also looking at a Corsair kit that is 4-4-4-12. Seems like a lot of ppl are running this memory.

Don't know anything about the PSU, and the memory is fine. I like Corsair, but lately I haven't been as good results with it as I have other memory.

You might want to check the PSU section of the forum to make sure that PSU isn't a piece of crap.

See my sig, that memory will work fine as it is rated at 1.8V and many many posts of people using it in DS3 without issue. Mine ran rated speeds up to about 900MHz (450 FSB) and then I had to loosen it up a bit to get the last bit of FSB I needed for a high stable overclock. With the 6400's 8x multiplier you should be able to get a high overclock at the stock timings (8x 400 FSB = 3.2Ghz and perhaps somewhere near 8x 425FSB = 3.4Ghz or better depending on your cooling etc. )

hit control +F1 in the main bios screen to enable the manual memory timings, otherwise they dont show up on the sub-menu.
