I'm getting ready to build a quad core omputer for my brother in the next couple of weeks and I have all of the components nailed down except for the PSU. He says that he wants to give overclocking a try and will liek to be able to upgrade in the future. I dont really want to spend more than about $150 on it but if you feel I need to then I will look into it. HEre are the specs for his build:

Motherboard: ABIT IP35 Pro
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600
GPU: EVGA 8600 GTS This One
Memory: 4 GB DDR2 800 G.SKILL
Hard Drive: 400GB Samsung SpinPoint
DVD Drive: 2X Samsung 20X SATA Drives
Sound Card: Xtreme Audio
And Im going to put a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro to cool the CPU.

Thanks for the help

Would the corsair 520 be enough to handle a graphics card upgrade to a 8800gts or equivalent later on if he decides that he wants to do that? Is thermaltake a good company? i don't have a ton of experience with PSUs so any help is appreciated

Yes. The corsair 520w would be able to handle the 8800gts or even gtx. Basically one highend graphics. Not enough for highend sli. I'm not a supporter of thermaltake PSUs. I like to stick with brands that have a high reputation of quality components.

I own an Enermax Galaxy 1K PSU and my kids have the OCZ 700 watt PSU's. Even my son has a 650 watt Coolmax SLi certified PSU. Now that PSU's are finally getting to be pretty high in quality I took a glance at the PC P&C 610 watt PSU and liked what I saw..

This is a good quality PSU, enough for todays powers needs but with the next generation around the corner, who knows..

This is the PSU that I just purchased.. Plenty of good clean power.. It could run an overclocked system with a quadcore and dual 8800 Ultras in SLi with no problems. Now that Coolermaster did a final revision on this PSU (Route 80 revision), this PSU is a VERY solid performer. Just google this PSU for professional reviews..
