New Qpack Type Case

Well, Aerocool also ripped them off.

By the way, the Aerocool doesn't have an aluminum front...it has a "foil" look covering the plastic front.

This case does have a few things different as well and will be cheaper.
 
Looks good. I like the airflow holes under the PSU mounds between the I/O shield. PCI slot covers look ghey tho. interesting 2-tone front to boot...and the PSU! if this PSU is anything like their other ultra psu's its MUCH better than the QPACK and might even be able to handle some video cards.
 
Their "V-series" is not exactly the top of the line PSU...but it isn't too bad for an average user.

It will come without a PSU though...which will make it cost next to nothing. The case is also a little longer for you NEC DVD burner folks
 
It's a compliment to the Aspire that other reatailers want to produce a similar product to the X-QPack. Who can blame them they pretty much dominate the mAtx SFF.

I think aspire actually got the license from someone. The case is manufactured by some company to the standards of the company that wants it...Ultra's version is 1.5" longer and has a few other changes.
 
Cheming is the manafacture of this case. But you have to give Aspire credit for making it popular and causing other manafactures to buy them from Cheming and taylor it to ther market goals.

You mean 1.5 deeper, thats good then... opens up the choice of devices you can use in the slots and the size of the power supply you can use...

I was wondering how long it would take them to make the case a bit bigger.
 
Well this thing is supposed to go on sale tomorrow for about $70. I hope that date on www.sffclub.com is correct b/c then I might have a new case coming my way :)

I have a review that I will likely publish tomorrow night or monday morning. The case will probably be available on Monday and not tomorrow (how many cases do you know come out on Sunday?).

Some places already have it available for preorder I suppose.

I'm looking forward to your review then. Did you try a full size power supply? I had an X-QPack that I ended up RMAing due to temp sensor issues and just went ahead and asked for my money back to pick up a different case (such as this one). I had my 500W Ultra power supply in the QPack, but I could only install it upside down (and thus having negative cooling performance due to not cooling the cards at all and sucking air down from the top window) so I guess I am interested if the extra 1.5" would permit for standard installation.

Is there a size comparison of the two Qpacks(Aspire / Ultra)? If not its cools if yeh its a plus!
Aspire and Chenming have the very same Specs right(dimension wise)?
 
The review addresses most of these issues.

A comparison is not really needed..it is 1.5" longer. Your PSU will fit for sure. Do you have the X2 or the X-finity?
 
Xfinity unfortuneately. It is a great PWS and it has the flexforce cables, just it isn't modular (thus I have a whole buttload of cables crammed in the case and in a case like that, hiding them isn't really an option). I'm starting to really look forward to the QMicra case as well, so we will see what I settle on. Build quality is a big thing of mine too and I'm sure it isn't any surprise that I wasn't too impressed by the X-QPack in that regard.

I am running an X-finity in a Qpack now....you say you can't do it?

It doesnt have the removable mobo tray that I can see the in pics. Just the top comes off. Thats a downside.

What are you talking about? It has a removable mobo tray and more than the "top" comes off.

I was running it, but I had to do it upside down. So the fan that was on the bottom of the power supply was facing up, so that the cables would go out on the right side of the case. All of those cables coming out would have intefered with my DVD-ROM and DVD+-RW.

ohh, you have a longer drive?
 
I don't think they are any longer than normal. It is an NEC DVD burner, and a Asus DVD-Rom. The Asus is shorter than the NEC, but I thinkt he Asus is just a small drive and the NEC is regular length. Maybe I could have compressed the cables some on the power supply since they are the flexforce cables, but I know I remember it being a real tight fit and I just didn't even attempt to squeeze it that much.

The NEC is the longest one you can get now. It stands around 190mm while the ASUS is at 170 I think

Well, based on the fact that he wrote a review, has the friggin thing, etc etc, I'd say it's safe to say he knows what he's talking about ;)

Like he said, I would know. Nevertheless, you are right in the fact that the flyer that Ultra has doesn't tell you how the top comes off or that it has a removable tray..this can be inferred from one of the pictures though.

Read the review tomorrow, hopefully it will help.

I will note that the review won't really be "complete" as I have no other cases to compare it to. For this reason a "cooling" test was not really done.
