Hi There,

I recently built a new system and at first, used the Stock Intel Push pin type, then bought a Coolermaster TX2 pushpin type..both hard to snap onto the MoBo, was afraid of high temps, (see below) Ssoooooo I bought a ZALMAN 9700 (LGA775)

VOILA! LOWER TEMPS! I hope these are reading up to Par. Can someone tell me I am safe with these.

I have a MSI P-35 Plaitnum that comes with monitoring software (DualCoreCenter)
BIOS-
Someone mentioned something about the DOT, I'm not going to over-clock, so I'm not going to touch it.
Also, in the CELL Folder, the INTEL EIST..something I should know? Should I just disable? These temps are from CORETEMP 0.96

Here are my Temps (just surfing, not big Load)
BEFORE >
Tj MAX 100c
CORE 0 = 58c
CORE 1 = 56c
CORE 2 = 49c
CORE 3 = 48c

NOW > :D
CORE 0 = 33c ..../....89F is this normal? it just sounds high to me ......Would I want these any cooler?
CORE 1 = 32c
CORE 2 = 26c
CORE 3 = 27c

Thanks! ;)

Perfectly fine...but you would also want to test your load temps.

How many times did you re-seat the stock HSF before going out and purchasing the Zalman? The stock cooler is really not that bad if you're not going to overclock.

anthongy817,

You don't want to know. I was really frustrated and thought I would break the board with all the flexing I was doing on both the Stock and Coolermaster. I did not want to take everything off the board and remove it,and as long as I was in the mood to do so, I bought the Zalman because I heard horror stories with the pins popping out and having a meltdown or something else on those darn pushpins...better safe than sorry.

As far as Overclocking, I also heard stories of unstableness, besides, I don't even game. Just wanted something fast, stable to use Photoshop and maybe Video editing, but from what I've heard about my Nvidia 8600 GT 512MB DDR2, Theres better I should have got. Oh well. Compared to my most recent puter with GeForce MX 440/256SDRam/AMD 1.2 CPU...I am far better off. Thanks and take care.:)

Yeah it really sucks using the push-pin HSF when the mobo is already mounted in the case. I always assemble my computer out of the case first to make sure everything is working correctly, and then I make sure my temps. are good.

Stability will be affected by how far you push the oc. i oc'ed to 3.3, but when gaming it crashed a couple times. i backed down to 3.2 and havent crashed yet

IMO if you are only image/video editing and not gaming, an 8600 should be more than enough for what you need

As far as your temps are concerned, 32C is not a bad idle temp at all. like previously mentioned, check temps under load

if you have a B3, you should avoid temps higher than 62C
if you have a G0, you are fine up to 70C

Thanks a bunch guys!

I feel somewhat comfortable with these temps compared to what it was before. 8600GT good? Good! Some guys said I'd be better off with a 8800 or higher. We'll see after I start the editing.
I know it's been told, not to trust the Mobo CPU temp setting as much as the CORETEMP utilities, but this MSI Mobo desktop software has a DUAL CORE CENTER that have both the MB and VGA temps, clocks Memory Clock...
as follows>

VGA >
Temp 42C
GPU Clock-486MHZ
MemClock-400MHZ

Motherboard >
Temp-30C
FSB-266MHZ
CPU Clock- 2394MHZ

On the DOT (Overclocking settings) UP/DOWN arrows, it shows percentages from -0% - -15% Normal range and -17% and -19% in the YELLOW range. Right now it's on the -7% in the BLUE.

It also has five different settings AV, GAME, OFFICE, SILENCE, and COOL. That seems to either control the fans and/or CPU performance. I can hear things quiet down let’s say after I click on the Cool setting.
Also on the Dial is a DOT Button, when pushed the fan starts spinning...I'll have to read up on this more.
I guess this doesn't mean anything to someone who does not have this same MSI Platinum P-35 Board with these utilities, but if anyone does, maybe they can shed a little light.

Thanks again for your replies guys! Take care.
