I will be building my new system on tuesday when my power supply arrives. Here is a list of all my parts that I have now except the PS.

EVGA 680i A1 motherboard
Q6600 G0 stepping processor
4x1 gb PQI DDR2 800 mhz memory
2 x PNY 8800 GTS 640mb video cards
2 x Maxtor 320 16mb 7200rpm SATA drives
Sounblaster X-fi Xtreme Music Sound card
Antec p180 silver case
18X Toshiba DVD burner SATA
Zalman 600 Watt Modular PS
Logitech Edge DiNovo keyboard
2 x Dell 3007 HC monitors

Is there anything else I should get or change for my build? Thanks for any advice.
 
Looks good. Just a FYI, in SLI mode, you will NOT be able to use both your monitors in game or non-game mode.

To be honest. All you need is one 8800 GTX. Make sure it's eVGA so you can use the trade up program. I've used it and it's AWESOME. The new cards are out soon and it's a safe guard against buying an older video card now. You will be able to trade up and get the full value out of your card.

One 8800 GTX rocks. In fact, I am not sure that 2 8800 GTS are as fast as 1 GTX. Get the eVGA 8800 GTX. Don't get 2 x GTS's.

Motherboard looks good.

I would suggest a Raptor 150 for your main boot / programs / games drive. It's around $150 or so, slight more than a 320. Then, get a fast 7200.10 400 gig or 500 gig for storage. You cost might slightly more but well worth it.

Raptor 150 is extremely fast. In fact I have raid-0 400's and I cannot tell the difference really between the two.
 
I'd also say go with just one GTX over the two GTS's. Not only is it less space, config, etc, it will be cheaper.

Don't get Raptors. Their price-performance ratio is almost non-existent. Waste of money.

as you can see, the Raptor 150 is the top choice for desktop. Storagereview.com is a very highly respected review website. Take their word, not ours.

I am puzzled by the "cost performance" comment the above made. The only other and very slightly faster drive costs more than double the price of the raptor.

When building a system, especially one that's as high end as the one you building or about to build, you want performance but, for your dollars to be spent wisely.

I own www.sabethapc.com. I deal with harddrives everyday in my shop. Forget the reviews and numbers for a minute. Trust me, for the money, this is a very very faster drive. I have Seagate 7200.10 400's and 500's ... the Raptor beats them hands down.

I would invest a bit more money into your harddrive. It's one of the main bottlenecks of a computer.

instead of getting 4x 1gb mem why not just get

2gb ram and a better GPU upgrade. no need for 4gb of ram

if your running 2 x 30" monitiors.that little GTS's wont be any good watsoever. IMO

Ide at least get anGTX in SLI . this is just my own opinion. People may think differently.
 
Well, my take:

PSU may be a little on the weak side.
A single 8800 GTX or Ultra will be more flexible for 2 x 30 inch monitors if you plan on playing games with them. If not, the GTS cards are fine.
The Raptor drives in RAID 0 make a big difference. Use a 400 for storage.

Otherwise, looks like a very good build.
 
The only reason I got the pny 8800 gts 640mb from a friend was because of the very cheap price. Also the PSU was cheap too. I will be getting the raptor 150 though. Thanks for the advice.
 
Nice setup. Only problem I have is your Antec p180 silver case. I don't believe it would be good for air cooling. Everything is pretty much close off which is bad for the 2 videocards and CPU. I also agreed that 1 gtx is better than 2gts.
 
Ok just to clear something up.... in most cases other than this one (i.e. using one monitor) using 2xGTS will be better because 2xGTS in SLI perform better than 1xGTX, an Ultra performs about as well as the GTS SLI so I would rather go with the Ultra (I could SLI that later for better power :)). But since he is using 2 monitors it is indeed better to go with either 1xGTX or Ultra. I guess it's pointless though since he already got 1 of the GTS's for cheap from his friend. Everything else looks solid though OP :).
 
I got both the gts 640mb from my friend because he upgraded to ultra. I paid 120 each for them.

also, what kind of CPU fan are you going to get? Or are you staying stock? (Thermalright Ultra 120 Extrem FTW)

You might be right. Might need to confirm with people who have this Antec 180. But I think it might work if you can take out the upper tray. But I still wouldn't recommend the Antec 180 since I believe it's not a good air cooling case.
 
By looking at your equipmet list I'd say It'll rock, I just built the following (see my Sig a similar however yours should be faster) and it flies :)

I play Quake IV, Bioshock, battlefield 2142, Supreme Commander (Quads are awesome with this game) , Stalker etc..

You've got yourself a Nice System
 
Finally finish building my system along with vista install. I have to say this system is fast compared to my old core duo 925 system. Well anyways just wanted to say Thanks to everyone with great advice.
