Well to start out with my specs are in my sig...

I wanted a new psu for some time now since this old Antec True Power 430W (One of the first ones 20A @ 12V ) because it the only old part I have but it never crashed or gave me any problems so i didnt bother with it...

But lately my rails are beccoming lower and lower ( still no problems or crashes) but I am worried and wanna do something about it...

Here is a pic of the rails

Does this look safe ?

What a good psu within the 50-60$ range that will be able to power my rig in the sign ( Mild overclocking) ? I dont want to spend more on a psu because next year when I upgrade Soket M2 might need a special connector or something and id have to buy a new psu again...

Please point me in the right direction :)

Unfortunately, software voltage measurement isn't accurate. So, it's hard to say, your rails may be doing very well, or not so good. It would be advisable to measure the voltages with an actual DMM.

what a good replacment psu in the 50-60$ range that will hold me till M2 next year..

I was looking at that Xcilio 450W on newegg for 52$

I certianly wouldn't worry about it unless I checked it with a multimeter and saw some pretty whack voltages. The voltages in software can be off for so many reasons it's not even funny.

Since your wanting a temp psu and arent looking for great quality, you could always get:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182005

Its got good numbers, but again its on the lower end of the quality spectrum. Would probably suit your needs for the time being, your choices are pretty limited with the budget you were giving.

As stated earlier, check your rails manually with a meter, you might find theres nothing wrong.

NO! ELL NO! You should be shot for the suggestion!

Use a DMM & see if you really need a new PSU.

The XCilo 450W you mentioned would be fine as would several of these.

Cheap, but Good Power Supplies! http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1027898523&postcount=7

I wish I could make out the UL on that thing. I tried, but.....

You really should have some knowledge before making recommendations.
It is just wrong to make poor or random suggestions.
Those who know PSU's never recommend junk.

Ok guys be cool.

We have all made mistakes, and we all had noobie as a title once. The tittle doesn't mean much. On the flip there is no need to take things so seriously. Comprendere guys?

Do you have one of these that you can send me that I can test?

I know Rosewills are made by a plethora of different manufacturers. I'm curious to see if this particular model is better.. or worse... than others.

I would really like a challenge. I don't get to test any "marginal" power supplies anymore. I haven't bought anything in a while (my meds drained my PSU fund) and everything that I'm being sent by power supply companies is something I know is going to hold up to it's label claims.

I mean.. other than my buddies coming over with different power supplies and we all sit around with a 12-pack of beer and put 40A on the 12V rail of a 300W power supply. I tell you what.. it's more fun than shooting squirrels. But you can't really publish anything useful when at the end of the day you just have a pile of metal with scorch marks all over it. :(

And Mark... If you're out there: No more Natural Ice, dude. It gives me the shits.

Have you heard anything from TT yet? I haven't.

Nope.

They fear the SunMoon! :D

Ahh.. memories. I must say... Of all of the Deers and Allieds and Codegens I blow up just for the pure fun of it, I've never had a failure as dramatic as that one Butterfly 480W that blew the 12V MOSFET right off the heatsink. It was cool because it actually bounced around the inside of the power supply three or four times before coming to a stop. :) It sounded like a pinball machine when you get the ball back to the very top where the three bumpers are, just above the lttle alley ways that light up when the ball goes through them and you're supposed to light all of the lights up and when you hit the right flipper button the lights rotate. That little transistor was going for the multiball!!!!!

I meant mine as a joke, no harm intended. I didnt expect such a harsh disagreement though, as I was just showing a cheap unit (I even explained its the lower quality side of the spectrum here) that I had found with high rail #'s. Never meant to imply this is what it can fully achieve, since Rosewill has been hit or miss from my experience. Just trying to help, and no the noobie means nothing since Ive been building computers since the 386 days (using them since the 8088ish days). No harm intended dave :)

And you had the Zilog Z80's. Hard to believe that thing actually was the processor for an actual computer at one time. And then, only ten years later, you would find three or four of them in a video arcade machine. And then, ten years after that, you could only find them controlling traffic signals. Wow... Technology moves fast. :D

Yep. Like that.

I still have a Z80 in my house. ;)

My trusty ColecoVision.

And nothing warms my heart more than sitting in front of the TV playing Frogger on the ColecoVision with my 2 1/2 year old. :D

So now that I've tugged at your heart strings..... You going to hook me up with one of those Rosewills? ;)

Damn it is! I haven't seen one of those in years! I'll never forget my first 500KHz Z80B!

You are my kind of people. Do you have any 8080's?

Welcome to the club!

I really wish I had saved some of my old pc's, I think the oldest ive got is an amd 386 around here somewhere :) I remember when Windows95 came out tryin to run it on that thing.

Ive got a Tandy 1000 in the garage if you're interested. It's in near mint condition. Monitor, keyboard.... I need to get rid of it and make some room. :(

Oh wow ahaha, unfortunately I think the wife might not like it since my "collection" room is almost full to the ceiling. I tend to have the same problem your describing (no room!).
