I am upgrading a friends PSU from a 250W to a 400W so that she can use a video Card. My questions is, do I need to do a clean install of the operating system for the PSU and card? The was no vid card on the system before, I am giving her my old 7800 GT. It has a dual Linux/XP pro system installed and I would not know how to redo the linux part if I have to do a clean install. Thanks for the advice>>>>

shouldn't need to do a clean install to appease XP, should be fine. Linux I'm not sure enough to have an opinion on that.

You should not have to reinstall either OS. Just install the video card drivers and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the awesome info! I swear, this forum is the end all be all of computer building info. A room mate of mine taught me to build computers several years back. And ANYTIME I get stuck, I just need to post here and all is made clear!!
