New Printer Suggestions: Fed up with HP

So after 5 successive "expensive", "High quality" HP printers in my lab, I'm fed up with them. Not one has lasted much more then 1 year. We don't have a huge printing cycle, usually 500 pg/month, but they all go to crap quickly. They are maintained decently, but something always goes wrong with'em.

I get longer life out of the cheap throwaways then I do out of these "high quality" POS's.

I'm looking to get a decent printer that will last a while. Don't care about wireless as it doesn't work with the Uni's network, but ethernet would be preferred. I would love for it to have a Scanner built in, particularly one with scan-to-network-folder capability, but I'll take what I can get honestly.

Budget is: yes. (under $500-600 preferred, but whatever) Color is required.

That Brother looks like it would do. I looke dit up and it can do scan to network which I didn't see listed on the Amazon page.

There are also some Samsung printers that do scan to network.

If you are really scroogey about toner, try and look for a printer that doesn't have a page counter chip built onto the toner cartridges.

The laser printe ri have a just a black and white Dell printer, but the toner page counter is not built onto the toner cartridge and can be reset via the printer buttons. I've had it for over a year now and I still haven't had to add toner.. and I got it used from a thrift store. The toner light blinking was the only thing "wrong' with it.
