Im looking for a new power supply for the a64 setup i will be building. Right now im using an antec 430. i would like something similar that will be more than enough for a few years with the new stuff that will be coming out.

Thanks

i would reccomend a Thermaltake Silent Purepower "Butterfly" with 480 watts...i have a thermaltake and it is very stable

also look at the OCZ Power Supplies. i think they are nickel plated, and they have pots on the back to adjust the voltages on your power supply

i prefer Fortron/Sparkle and PCP&C. some folks really like Antec, but i've found that the rails drop too much for my liking during heavy overclocking.

If you do a search of PS the only gripe you'll get is that it costs more than the others.
Everything else leads PC Power & Cooling being top knotch. Look at the 510. Remember you spent a fair amount of kaash don't cut corners on the PS.

I realize you want to upgrade, but do you have a specific reason as to why you need a new PSU? As new PSU standards are emerging, it's getting harder to future-proof; So stick with what you have until you *need* a new one. Oh, and if you're stuck on getting a new one, PC P&C won't let you down, nor will Fortron, Thermaltake, or Antec.

430 antec should be plenty, unless you're putting a big RAID array or something in the case.

Post the specs of the computer, we'll give a better answer.

I plan on getting as follows:

MSI K8N neo 2 939
1 gig corsair ram
a64 3500
1 dvd burner not sure which one
floppy
nvidia 6800GT
1 raptor
audigy 2

I plan on doing some overclocking also.

What is your price range? If you want the absolute best for future-proofness at the moment, get the PC Power & Cooling Deluxe 510 AG, or any EPS12V power supply for that matter.

I've run the system in my sig (plus assorted blinky things) on an Antec True 430 for about 6 months. Never had a single problem, and rails are solid under load. This was after my 430 Enermax fried about two months after the warranty expired.
