I have a sucky stock psu that came with my case at 420w and my room gets hot whenever I turn on the computer (and its pretty noisy too). Anyway, my question is: If I replace the power supply with a better one, will my computer run cooler?

This is the one I'm thinking of getting:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817189003
XClio 450BL ATX 450W Power Supply

Some of my system specs:
a64 3400+ (754)
1 gb ram
nvidia 6800 gt

If that doesn't work, I will probably just add more fans... please help :)

switching PSU probably won't net you any temperature drop on your chip. best thing is to add fans. however, no matter what you add, your room will still get hotter when the computer is on

Well, the powersupply itself could be generating heat if it's not a efficient one. Quality and efficient PSU like the Seasonic dissipate less heat.

However, to get you to feel the heat rising in a room, the room would be really small
