Me and my buddy Dustin have 13 podcasts under our belts now... He is in Boise and I'm in Seattle. We skype our chats and both of us are using Blue Yeti USB mics set to cartoid with padded mic stands. I cut the background audio as much as possible, but there is always a lot background noise. Of course skype adds another filter of crap to my audio stream as he captures it.

I'm thinking of getting a decent unidirectional XLR mic (suggestions?) and something like the Tascam DR-40 so that I can get interviews outside my house. I would also use the mic for our podcasts - using the DR-40 to record my audio and pass through the sound as well to our skype so he can hear me - then send my file for him to add to my audio...

What do you guys N gals think? Is this stupid? I welcome any suggestions... Also, any sites that might have more focused articles or forums?
