New PCI Express Computer?

I have been looking to buy a computer for that past couple of months now, but everyone kept telling me to wait because of the agp/pci-e thing. They said I would have more upgrade options later so I waited and now they tell me that the pci-e mobo thing is out. I wanna spend probably around $1,500 (-/+) including the parts ot build it, speakers, keyboard, mouse, case, and monitor. I have a ATI Radeon Pro 9800. It won't work on the PCI-E thing right? I guess I could sell it. Its brand new, and never been put in a computer. So what should I get? Can someone help me out? I'm pretty flexible with the price so it doesnt really matter if its a little over or under. And I doubt I'll overclock, altough I probably upgrade a little in the future. I will probably be using this one for a lota gaming plus some general web surfing, aim, photoshop, flash, and dreamweaver...

Thanks. :)

You need to decide if you want to get a 64 bit cpu or not first.

If you do then AMD are not makeing PCI-E board yet.
This will mean that you will be able to use your ATI Radeon Pro 9800 card hence saveing you money to get better other bits.

If you want to go the Intel/PCI-E route then best bet is to read as many reveiws as possible so to get an idea as to whats out there.

Luck....... :D

I was in the same boat..or still am lol

I was waitng for PCI-E but after waitin a year to build a comp i could have had a year ago imma just go for it now. I got 2g a year ago to build a comp i wanted..i decided to wait till now..all and all with the new vid and AMD64 i think it was a good choice..

PCI-E tho isnt really going to be anything huge for a while...or atleast i dont think so. It wont really effect vid perfomance so getting a new vid card right now isnt a problem.

i thought about it as well. But my current rig can still last me a couple years easy. Im just going to wait until pci-express and all that new tech is more mainstream.

no man...i ment GB lol...screw the proc..i am memory buff!

i think ddr2, pci-e, faster sata, and 64bit cpus wont really shine for several years. it all depends on how fast ppl adopt them and how well the companies can use them. right now i think its too soon to buy the new technologies. just like MS tries to fix windows with service packs...i'd wait awhile until they can figure everything out and really make it worth buying...
