I'm looking to buy a new PC, and willing to spend around 1.5K - 2K on it. I'd like to get an AMD based one, and I'd like to keep some of the parts I already have (DVD drive, dvd burner, sound card, wireless card, monitor). I was wondering what the best configuration would be, given my price range. Note that this PC will be used primarily for gaming.

Thanks in advance for any advice, and for any good custom sites.
 
Probably should have read around the forums first, but here goes. VelocityMicro with a good SLI and a Athlon64 should be a good get for that cash. GamersEdge 1500 with SLI 7600gt's and a 4200+ x2 to be exact.

I second the vote for the VM Gamers Edge 1500, but I'd opt for a single 7900GT instead of two 7600s so you have an upgrade path. They are the best in the business these days.

Awesome, thanks for the help! I just got finished reading the [H] article on the GE 1500, and I'm pretty impressed.

Time to treat myself to a new PC (About time too, my PC is over 4 years old).

Check this out.......just for argument sake.......Maingear Prelude

I took the base model,added AMD 4000+ CPU and 7900GT to the standard order and it priced out at 1789.00. Read the [H] review.....these guys did well too.

Looks like Velocity still comes out a better deal - if it was me, I'd go with VM because they've got a really good proven track record with [h] and customers - go check out resellerratings. Buji - best of luck with your new system!
