Hey guys, I'm posting this for a friend who doesn't have an account here.

He just put together a new system:

Gigabyte P35-DS3L
Antec Earthwatts 500W
eVGA 8800GT 512
G.Skill 2x1gb ddr2-800
e8400 w/ ACFreezer7Pro

System is not coming up, fans aren't spinning, however when he hits the power button, the lights on his keyboard flash. Any ideas? I've told him to pull everything out except the cpu and see if it seems to work and then put parts back in piece by piece. Just wondering if you all have other input, or perhaps this fits the symptoms of a bad motherboard/cpu/something. Thanks.

Starting with the basics is a good way to go, but pull the mobo out and set it on a piece of cardboard, and build it up there. Start with the CPU/HSF, one stick of ram, video card (or onboard if possible) and psu, keyboard, mouse and display and see if it will post. If so, add parts from there until you find the culprit...

Good luck...

Try this: Clear CMOS jumpers, If that does'nt work, double check everything to see if everythings all seated properly and connected. If you have another computer try swapping out power supplies to see if your PS is ok. Also, process of elimination, as digital just mentioned, bypass the RAM with 1 RAM at a time, cpu and video card only. You want to just see it POST. If it does, slowly connect other devices to see how far you will go until the error occurs.
