These are the new components I have ordered for my PC: Athlon 64 3000+, Soyo SY-CK8 Dragon Plus and a BFG Fx5900 400/800 128 MB. I use Arctic Silver 3 and my case has great air flow with 3 extra fans installed.

Has anyone OCed these Athlon 64s? I have been out of the loop since the AthlonXPs have been out, so I dont know if there is something special that needs to be done on this processor. I have read a little about their abilities to OC, but nothing mentioning some kind of brige or anything. I have also read that these BFG 5900s are nice OCers.

I have done this before, as far back as the AMD K-6 IIIs and old Geforce cards, so I believe I can handle whatever needs to be done. Any tips will be appreciated.

Not sure on the 64, but flash that 5900 to 5950U BIOS, and it will madddd OC, same thing I'm doing to mine =)

Actually, everything I read about it on [H] and other sites said that the flash didn't help OC's at all, and if it did all it did was make the timing on the memory more lax which caused it to OC better but the performance didn't increase because by making the timings more lax you loss performance so the increase in Mhz only made them = again.

Mine overclocked better and went up some 650 points in 03 and a few thousand in Aquamark
