Concerned with the 200w power supply running the system and all the heat in the shuttle. I'm not looking to overclock anything yet.
 
I'd get a better power supply if possible, 200 watts isn't very much. More ram couldn't hurt you either, and i would defnitely stay with the 9800 pro at all costs. overall i think you did pretty good. and the cordless keyboard and mouse was a good buy, i don't know what i did before i got my wireless keyboard and mouse, haha.
 
ram ram ram 512 isnt enough if your going to be playing some of the newer games coming out get another 256 if you cant afford another 512 but just get more ram everything else looks good
 
I think you should at least get pc3200 ram instead of the 2700. That way, you can use the same ram if/when you get a faster processor or if you want to overclock.

Also, I would get one 512MB dimm instead of 2X256. The speed difference is unnoticable and when you buy another 512MB for a gig, you can then use the dual channel.

You can get the " Corsair Value Select 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 - OEM" with cas 2.5 for $82.00 at newegg. Much cheaper than the $132.00 for 2 dimms like in your list.

The reason I feel this way is because my current machine is limited by PC2100 memory that I bought to go with my XP 1700+ and now if I ever upgrade, the 512MB is trash.
 
get the 1x512mb stick of geil valueram, mine clocks at 2-3-3-6 and owns the corsair cheapo shit..i wouldnt get the wireless keyboard and mouse cause thats just extra money and it lags in games
 
I would get a 160GB drive over the 80GB. The difference in price shouldn't be more than 20 dollars.
 
how about a Mobile 2400+ instead of 2500+

Just so that if you ever want to overclock, you can do it really well.
 
how about a SATA drive? It'll certainly make the inside of your case a lot neater because of the slim cables.
 
get a 35 watt mobile 2400+...
get pc3200... if you plan on going higher than 400 fsb, get even faster ram, becasue you can't change the vdimm on a shuttle.. it will kill it... don't do it...

you can't get an sata drive, because the shuttle doesn't have it built in...

i really can't figure out how that is costing $1000 though.. i built the system in my sig for under $600. and i spend $150 on the ram alone...

i guess it is the speakers and monitor...
but i would get a bigger hard drive... faster ram... and a 35 watt mobile... you can overclock it to 2.4 ghz on stock cooling without a sweat (overclocking results not guarnteed, but 90% likely..)
 
I vote for mobil too.Even if you dont overclock it will run alot cooler at 35 or 45 watts compared too 65 for desktop.And if you do overclock well u will be much happier!

The 160GB Western Digital SATA drives accept standard power plugs in addition to the SATA power plugs. Depending on what brand/model HD he gets, the plugs aren't a requirment... However they would be a nice bonus.
 
gj selecting the geil ram :D ( i have it) - are you sure you wanna buy that zalman heatsink? i heard it doesnt cool too well but most ppl just buy it for quietness...if you plan to oc get a thermalright :eek:
