Alright only had this new rig about 2 weeks and I'm starting to think maybe I should send it back (I cheated and had shuttle build it lol) and build my own single core single video card uber rig as these driver/lockup issues are driving me nuts! Some games (EQ and WoW) have these funky animation/stuttering problems while other games (Um anything else FEAR, Eve Online, etc..) hardlock on exit after playing about an hour. Here's the specs (keep in mind its shuttle built unlike my last couple of rigs so I can't monkey about with it atm):

4400+ x2
2gigs of ram (1gig x 2)
7800gt x 2 (SLI)
200gig 7200rpm harddrive x 2 (non raid)
All in one combo dvd/cd burner

Scores 11251 on 3dmark with default settings.

I got all the latest drivers and Windows XP Pro updates as well as the dual core hotfox from MS.

edit: Ooookkk (update 1) I forgot and I didn't do the reg edit for the hotfix whoops! This I thought fixed the lockups when exiting games however..... (update2) I thought it did but I haven't been able to play much lately due to catching the flu *cries* but today through coughing my head off I loaded up CoD2 for a little multiplayer and BAM on the 3rd or 4th round of the map I hardlocked. When I rebooted it wouldn't load windows I had a complete black screen. I rebooted a 2nd time and it loaded windows no problems.

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner but I checked the windows event log and it seems that every time I have had a lockup its been the exact same error.

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
nvatabus

Also the event ID is 7026

Sounds like a issue with the nvidia drivers but I don't have a clue what to do about it as I have the latest ones installed. Installing the hotfix and doing the reg edit seemed to clear up my stuttering issues and such but I haven't been able to nail down these lockups.

Its shuttle's new SLI rig. Not barebones however I got them to build it as I have zero experience with SFF cases. I have the latest drivers.

Did they put a beefy enough PSU in it?

A 4400 burns about 115 Watts, that from the 3.3 volt line is about 35 amps. Not too many power supplies are rated for that.

If you have dual monitors, install a monitoring utility, graph or read vcore and 3.3v voltages in the second monitor whil you play games in the primary monitor until the pc locks. Both screens will display static video and your will see the voltage reading at the point when the lockup happens.

Nope only a single 2005fpw monitor. As for the PSU not sure whats in it. This model/case is only used in thier SLI rig and I can't tell from the outside what the PSU is. If its the same one as thier barebones version I think its a "Silent-X 350 Watt mini PSU" .

Is this a shuttle mini PC? I would hope they would have better than 350W psu if they are pre-configuring it that way.

Sounds like an RMA or at least a call to their tech support line.

Well $*#*#* it wasn't a driver issue I guess. I played a couple hours early this morning of CoD2: HQ all fine but when I got on tonight its completely dead it won't even post. Started out as just the hard locks now it won't boot at all. I got no video signal no nothing other than the power supply and fans going full blast (normally right after post the fans would clock back down right away but now its not doing that at all guessing the mobo died). Gonna go call em up and give them an ear full (this is the 2nd time i'll have shipped it back to them. 1st time they left out a video card!) and get em to see if they can fix it. This is thier last chance before I give up and request a refund. Its small size is the only reason I'm putting up with this crap. Otherwise I'd probably be calling for a refund right now.

Argh I'm NEVER buying from shuttle again. I called em up told them what happend and all.... They wanted ME to pay for the shipping because I have had it for about 32 or so days not under thier '30 day DOA' rule. So I said fine I want a refund I'm not putting up with this crap nope they won't do that either. So I talk to a super they say the same thing. So basicly I got a 3 grand brick. They left out a video card, now I had hardlocks and now its died all together looks to me like 2 screw ups on thier side and they should pay for it.

NEVER buying prebuilt AGAIN!!! I have had 3 homebrews that I built that have run all good. The one time I decide to get a prebuilt SFF pc I get screwed. NEVER NEVER NEVER again!

I say if Shuttle did this, you bring this to Kyles attention. He might feel charitable and put Shuttle on the public chopping block if they don't make good on it.

It's pretty sad you would have to go through this at all.

Come on, don't overreact. You can do things about this. :) They literally cheated you out by skimping on a weak power supply and they say it's not their fault. Go sue. ;) But I'm sure you can talk to Kyle about this.

Maybe I'm overreacting but this is getting stupid. They were suppose to send me an email last night/this morning with the info so I could ship it back and well its almost 8pm here and no email. Called but they are now closed for the night so I'll have to rip em a new one tommorow and ship it out on monday.
