Hi

I'm trying to build a new PC and need some help. back on dial up at the moment and crawling the web looking at reviews and forums is painful at this speed :( . So that’s why I’m asking here to get some quick suggestions on good hardware choices.

I''ve listed some of the choices I've been thinking so far, I really want to get as much silence as possible, but also want the speed so I'd like to overclock the cheapest decent cpu..

Here is what I'm thinking of so far:

.CPU -AMD X2 3800

// I've seen some good results from people overclocking this cpu on decent air/water cooling, but which one does get the highest overclock out of all the x2 chips.

.Motherboard - DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR

// Seems like one of the best out there for OC, and has all the features I’m wanting. Is anything else worth taking a look at?

.Memory -2x1gb Crucial Ballistix PC-4000, 2Gb Mushkin XP4000

// 2gb is the minimum for the new pc, but deciding on the right type of memory to get the best possible overclock, out of my configuration so far, without just wasting money on something that I won't ever see the benefit from... really not sure.. Which would you get? Also I've only seen one supplier in the UK that has the 2Gb Mushkin XP4000 on sale (and they are out of stock I believe)

.Cooling - Koolance PC3-725BK Lian Li V1000, Swiftech H20-APEX

// I do like the koolance water/case setup, and getting a large case with space for my other hard drives is another thing I've got to think of, not sure if the koolance cooling is the best from what little I've read on forums. I guess I might have to ask on water cooling specific forums as to which is the best water cooling setup.. I don't mind ordering separate parts, instead of a kit though... Any recommendations appreciated as I’d really like to get this cooling/silence balance done right this time

.GFX Card - 7800gtx or radeon x1800xt...

//Seeing as I'll be ordering this pc by the time ATi fastest card might actually be readily available. What’s the chances of a firegl mod/hack being made for these new cards? and also have there been any reviews including any spec viewperf benchmark results on the x1800xt?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, would appreciate any feedback :)

Those components are all good. Get the Crucial Ballistix for RAM, it's the best overclocker out there. And for cooling I'd get an XP-120 with a nice Panaflo.

DougLite - nah no [H]ard|Drive :) this time, got a 2 sata drives in this current system that are pretty new and I'll just move them across. Think i'll wait until late next year and see whats available in the hard drive department

sc00ter- How good is the xp 120 at overclocking compared to either water cooling setups? I know with a silent fan it would be good, but I really want to overclock that 3800 to 4800 speeds or more without a powerful but noisy fan :(

Oh, whoops, didn't see the water cooler there. :p Water cooling would definitely be better for that big of an overclock.
