A friend of mine recently had his computer die due to a faulty motherboard. He bought new components the other day, and finally assembled his machine tonight: pretty much everything except the two hard drives are brand-new. However, when he boots up, he gets the following error message:
Serial_ch0 master: not found
Serial_ch1 master: not found
He's using an Asus K8V Deluxe motherboard, and has two Maxtor IDE hard drives (one was the primary HD on his old computer, containing his Windows XP install, and another is cannibalized from his girlfriend's old computer.) His HD jumper settings are set properly, and nothing he's tried has eliminated this error, which I think is due to the motherboard failing to find SATA drives(?).
Any help resolving this problem is appreciated.
