Yes, it goes from PATA to Serial, so basically you convert IDE channel to SATA channel to hook up SATA drive.

Nope, it works the opposite where you have SATA drive and want to hook it up to IDE bus.

actually these are made to do the exact opposite. you have a parallel ATA hard drive or cd-drive and this lets you use SATA.

I have this same adapter I was about to sell. I was using it on my main system but replaced all the hard drives in it with SATA ones. IDE to SATA. Once this dude sells his I have it for the same price. Anyone interested just PM me!
