Hey guys:
I'm in the market for a pair of new panels to replace my current Benq G2400W. There is nothing wrong with it, I just can't find a twin for it, and am wanting to go multi-monitor. That, and I can sell it to offset some of the cost of the new panels.

Anyways, I know 1920X1200 panels are a dying breed (at least at 24"). As such, I've been looking at 1920x1080 panels.
I've found the Viewsonic VP2365WB and the Dell U2311H that both look very nice. However, I'm open to suggestions. I can get the Dell for $275+tax (academic discount), and the Viewsonic is $299 on Amazon.
I'm also pondering just biting the bullet, and buying a single HP ZR24W. I know it won't match, but, it'll be a full 1920x1200, and an IPS panel at that.

Thoughts?

I think in your case, matching the resolutions would be best.
Either go for a pair of the Dell 23 inchers since they appear to be pretty good all around monitors.
Or you can get the new HP 24" for $400 and keep your other 24 incher.

PS I hope scaling doesn't matter to you? 16:9 video content gets stretched on 16:10 monitors that don't feature aspect ratio scaling.

How do you mean exactly?
That it will be stretched when using an external source such as a console or blurayplayer?
I don't object to that, but I don't think I've ever encounterad stretching to fullscreen when viewing stuff on my computer through a software player.

When it comes to the Dell U2311, I would stay away from it.

An excellent contrast ratio, narrow viewing angles
The U2311H beats the U2211H's contrast hands down with a contrast ratio of over 1100:1, whether you use the default setting (brightness of around 234 cd/m²) or when you turn the backlighting down to its minimum level of 100 cd/m². When you remember that IPS panels have a reputation for having poor contrast ratios, this 23'' monitor produces quite astounding results.

On the other hand, the viewing angles are narrower than we have come to expect from IPS. To give you some numbers, we found this monitor was 30% less bright when seen from a horizontal angle of 45°, but another IPS, the Dell 2209WA, only loses 15% at the same angle. Things are even worse from above: while the 2209WA only varies by 20% between the axis and a 45° angle, the U2311H loses 60%.

My remark, who cares about a slightly higher measured contrast when a monitor suffers from white glow :/

I have an HTPC to watch movies on, so 16:9 content isn't a huge worry. If I watch it on my desktop, it gets windowed anyways.

Looks like the Viewsonic is a winner for the 23" 1080p panel.

Any other good 24" panels that won't break the bank, other than the HP?
