New P4 system for content creation

The main system I'm using is in my sig, but I notice it slow down pretty good when I'm doing large files in Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. I was thinking about building an Intel box for doing work related stuff and using the FX53 soley for gaming.

I just read the review of the 3.8 P4 and I'm not too impressed with the scores. I read it at Sharkyextreme and they mentioned that it's good for content creation, but I'm wondering if it will be a large enough performance gain to warrant the purchase of an entire new system? I believe Photoshop CS utilizes hyper threading which would be a benefit, but I'm not sure about the other Adobe programs I use.

I'd say at this point, I'd go with the 3.4 or 3.6 and overclock it if need be. Any thoughts?

Don't bother. A new high-end pentium rig might be marginally faster than what you currently have in content applications. Photoshop shouldn't be giving you problems, unless all you do is apply filter after filter.

No filters, but when I work with large print graphics, it bogs down.

Stuff I'm doing for After Effects is fine since the res is normally 720x480 @ 72dpi.

Posters and book covers that are 8.5x11 @ 300 dpi bog down some though.

I might add another gig of ram and see if that helps.

Yeah... not going to find anything on the market significantly faster than what you have already. More RAM and/or faster drives might be worth looking into.
