New Omega Drivers

Sah-weet! Wait, they're out?


If they are, I'll download them and compare them to the benchmarks I took with the Catalyst 5.1 and the DNA 3.6.5.1's :D

Couldn't be more dissapointed. Installed them, understanding they're stand alone, as in you don't have to install them over the Catalyst Drivers.. Then I notice they're no options, no smart gart, nothing. I was even reduced to 3 resolution settings.

So I thought, maybe you have to install them over the Cat5.1's. So I do, still no options (keep in mind I'm using Driver Cleaner everytime in safe mode). So I've rebooted about a dozen times, installing, going into safemode, driver cleaner, installing, rebooting.

Finally, I get an "Advanced 3D" tab in my Display Settings! Keep in mind this is still the time I installed over the cat5.1's. So I boot up CS:S and run the stress test. Here are my results:

Not so good. In fact, I'm certain something isn't right. I'm going to uninstall, run driver cleaner, and start over again. I'll post back in about 20-30 minutes with results.

Sounds strange. Hope you get everything working.

(Edit: I definitely don't think you should be installing over the Cat 5.1s.)

Turns out I did it correctly. The Omega's wont even boot HL2 without being installed over the Cat 5.1's.

Perhaps I downloaded a crappy version?

A HA!! I was right! Just went to the Omega Driver's website and they pulled the drivers:

DOWNLOAD OF OMEGA DRIVERS BASED ON CAT 5.1 HAS BEEN PUT ON HOLD, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH CURRENT BUILD THAT PREVENTS A PROPER VIDEO INITIALIZATION UPON STARTING WINDOWS, AS SOON AS THIS IS FIXED I WILL PUT THE UPDATED LINKS, IN THE MEANTIME, PLEASE KEEP USING YOUR CURRENT VERSION OF THE OMEGA DRIVERS. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

Yeah...... at his download sites he has temporarily ceased releasing them because of this ( I presume ) error.
 
I had to unistall everything then I installed them alone and they worked.
no clue though and I am using them to force a 9800 le to a 9800 pro and it works awesome after some time fiddling with them
 
Ahhhh.............so that's why. Here I was thinking I had downloaded a bad file.
