just a heads up that there are new WHQL drivers for geforce 7 series cards for WIN XP.

i'm not sure if there is a new set for anything other than what i specified in the first paragraph, but here's the address for the new ones (7/26/07)

162.18

and yes, i guess this is old news, but it didn't poke me in the eye on one of my frequent visits to this forum, so here it is.

personally, i let my monitor do the scaling for me.

it seems to do a fair job. i'll have to try out the software scaling features at some point.

thats what i meant

be for it was stuck on driver scaling were it would strech the image no i can use my monitors 1:1 or Zoom

The scaling is not fixed, it reverts to let the lcd decide, which sucks for me on my 226bw.
I still have to use the "boot lcd turn off" trick

the samsung doesn't have scaling?

Bah, it's still 93.71 for WinXP x64.

heh, well that's a little misleading then! i haven't bothered installing it yet since my 94.24's are workin just fine, but when i fired up CS: S yesterday it informed me that my drivers were out of date. i'm running xp32...

then i posted this thread after checkin out nvidia's site.

sorry if i got anyone else's hopes up, only to have them dashed. :(

as far as monitor scaling goes, i don't think i've had a problem? i think i'll read a little more about this issue.

I just finished my new HTPC and currently have it connected to a regular monitor. By the way my new card is a evga 8600GTS.

Do I want to install the new driver before connecting it to my HDTV for the first time?

Installed the new drivers and it seems to make everything blurry. I have a 47" Westinghouse and using the new drivers the text is blurry and the icons not as sharp.
Im seriously thinking of going back to XP

In the driver notes it says that you need to change the CVT timings to fix the blurriness.

Control Panel > Manage Custom Resolutions > Create... > Advanced >> > Timing Standard: CVT

XP 64-bit are now out as well whereas they were not there when this post was originally made. Yeah. :)

Is there any way to revert back to the classic control panel with these drivers?

I cant stand the new CP.

In XP, you can go into the registry and do the Sedonadisable trick.

HKLM\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies

Add DWORD: SedonaDisable and set it to 2

Restart.

You should now be able to activate the classic control panel from within the new one (on one of the menus).

Be aware, however, that on newer GPUs, you won't have all the options (AA modes, etc.) on the older control panel.

Thanks for the tip, Hurin.

But if there's no "stock" way to do it, I think I'll just use the new CP. I dont want to use it if it's going to block out certain settings. I suppose I'll get used to it eventually.

I'm used to it now, I still dislike it because its more bulky feeling, and I hate that the temp management / OCing are now a separate program (which sucks.. Rivatuner FTW). However I only have to rarely use it to setup / modify program specific game settings so its not too bad :p

To Reubenray: You can connect your TV at any time to the already installed card and drivers. It will recognize the unit and all you should have to do is check in the control panel that the correct resolution is set. Then (if you need to) resize the display to fit the TV screen in the control panel.

So, I tried playing stalker after installing these drivers and it goes at 4 fps for like 5 seconds, freezes, and then bluescreens saying the device/driver got stuck in an infinite loop.
