New Nvidia Driver

When will the 174 drivers be officially released by Nvidia? I prefer not to use beta drivers. I'm a play-it-safe kind of guy!

Thanks

It's been a while since the last certified driver - 20th December 2007! Some of the betas work well, but I normally end up going back to the certified drivers for stability. Not sure when the next WHQL driver is out. A new version seems to coincide with a big game release. Assassin's Creed 11th April....?

In my experience the WHQLs are just as unstable if not moreso than the betas. Sometimes the betas are horrible, it's true, but with them you at least have the option of waiting a couple weeks for a new version to get leaked.

I try each beta to see if it helps any of the games I play without adverse side effects.
Its a worthwhile practice as sometimes you can get a performance increase (in 1 game or overall) that can only be otherwise obtained from a hardware upgrade, other times, known issues that can ruin a game get fixed before a WHQL release.

Use which ever driver suits you best, whether its beta or WHQL.
If you dont want to mess about use the WHQL driver that suits you best.

well since the 169.75's dont' support resolution on my HD TV (1360x768) I'm wondering if I should even try these.

Well, STALKER locks up and/or CTD every couple minutes with these. But then, it could the float32 mod or...I don't know, STALKER never ran well for me.
Hellgate: London is running fine, though. Haven't tried them on any other game yet (Dark Sector is consuming most of my time on my PS3)

FYI: These drivers are for GeForce 9 series only yo.

No they aren't.

OK, let me rephrase. When you go to Nvidia.com and search for drivers for Geforce8 series you get 169.xx, when you search for Geforce9 series drivers you get 174.74. Sure you could use these for Geforce8 series, but I wouldn't recommend it if Nvidia doesn't.

Again wrong. If you go to the beta drivers section of Nvidia.com and search for 8 series drivers you do in fact get 174.74 as an option. You only see the 169.25s if you look for WHQL drivers. Also, stop using bold on everything. It's obnoxious.

with v64 - crysis ok, tf2 ok, bioshock ok, cod4 ok, hl2 ep 2 ok, prey ok.

why is using bold obnoxious? also, am i allowed to give people commands too? "stop using too many commas, it sucks", or "dont double space. it gives me constipation"

I went to beta drivers and searched for 8 series just like silent said this is what i saw for 174.74

Supports GeForce FX, 6, 7, 8, and 9 series GPUs

Im running 171.23 and have no issue's.

If I load one of the Beta drivers is it possible to revert to the WHQL if it F's up my system?

I was previously very cautious about this but it seems like most of you guys use the Beta drivers.

I'm running the 174.74 driver with my 9800GX2. No issues so far. Gaming is buttery smooth. SLI works great (Dual 8800GTX was a nightmare). Lost Planet is smooth at 1920x1200 4xaa 16xAF. Crysis on High was very smooth. Need For Speed Pro Street was did not hitch during gameplay and I have the settings cranked to the max. I haven't played any Steam games or CoD4 since I got the new card.
