ok so i've got a little problem with my new apartment setup.

I've got SBC yahoo! dsl going on... and that plugs directly to my new Dlink DL-524 wireless router. So, the issue i am having is, every time my girlfriend's computer goes into standby mode, it loses connection. Almost like the IP address is released and then it can't be renewed. If we unplug the router when the computer comes back from standby, the problem is solved. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Anything i should know about SBC DSL or DSL in general, as i have been an avid supporter of Cable in the past?

Thanks

When you mean, "lose connection", do you mean the connection between the laptop and the router? Your SBC DSL connection should have nothing to do with it.

What happens if you do an ipconfig release and renew.? Do you use any encryption?

When I installed a wireless card in a laptop, I think I recall the documentation
mentioning that if the card goes into certain power save modes, the connection
could drop. In the setup I configured the card to be "always on", and I have
not had any problems no matter what the cpu does. Might be something to check.

my girlfriend's computer is a desktop and is hardwired into the router. My lappy is wireless, but only is connected when i need to connect it, as i take it to school every day.

The only reason i though the DSL had something to do with it... when we first got the modem, it wouldnt connect unless it was hardwired into my girlfriend's computer, and a software package was run to register. Now i am cloning the mac addy, so that works, but, my girlfriend's computer loses connection like i said.
