new motherboard, new raid

I got a new motherboard. Will the raid controller on my new motherboard for sure recognize the two drives (and all it's data) that I currently have raided with my old motherboard? Or will I have to backup my current raid array before moving it over to my new system?

Back it all up. Chances that a different controller recognize the array and install with no problems is slim. Always backup first.
