My colleagues and I at Purdue University are working on a mobile product concept and we would very much appreciate your input. Below is a link to a super short survey that will help us determine the core product features and basic market opportunity. This is totally academic as we will be entering in our universities business competition. So please feel free to comment on the concept.

completed...

one thing i would liek to add about the price....

I put $120 just for a good price many people would be willign to spend from the VAST GENERAL PUBLIC

Many liek myself would possibly spend upwards $200 but not $300 b/c of technology and memory increasing so rapidly.

So dependign on functionality and allocated memory size the price could vary.

For a 512....$100 maybe...with all listed functions. 1gb $100-120
2gb $110-160
3gb $160-200

so on so forth

iPods have 5.6gb for $250 soooo....

I guess the concept of the digital wallet is kinda neat...it is basically a jump drive with a isplay to tell you what files are on it, and will connect to any device with a usb port, instead of just a computer, right? well, what other devices have a usb port, besides computers? pdas and cell phones? yeah right.

Even if you had different adapters to connect to pdas and stuff, how versatile do you think the connectivity could get to be effective. It just seems like there will be WAY too many compatibility hurdles to get over to be feasible....devices are definitely NOT universal...

And to be honest....even if it were to somehow work out, I wouldn't buy it. It just seems too gimmicky to be worth the money, even if it IS only 100 bucks or so.

It would have compatibility problems, it would need a way to view files on a host computer also without the computer monitor. And many different partition types, which to look at? Mac and Linux compatible. Different versions with music and video?

Thanks for all your comments.

We are finding that trying to run a host port off a small flash drive sized device is a pain because of the different voltage requirements by USB devices. Only recently are manufacturers following the USB standard power budget. USB OTG is basically infeasible because of every device pulling more than the specified voltages in the standard.

Also, being an accessory by nature the digital wallet would probably always be in the vicinity of a notebook if used by mobile users. Making its host port feature redundant.

It would be nice to find a group of people that might find this concept useful. Check out this companies take on the concept. What do you think of their product?
