Just saw on Windows Update that MS has released new WDM drivers for X-FI.

Anyone install this yet? or should I even install for my Fatl1ty? I'm using OCt 30, 2006 drivers from Creative.

You might want to wait a couple days. What this could indicate is that Creative finally submitted drivers to MS for certification and got them approved, which should mean they don't have so many problems. That being the case, wait a couple days for Creative to integrate those in to their full suite and release them on their page.

Got it. theoretically then, these could be the same Oct 30, 2006 drivers from Creative? If the process for MS certificvation did take that long.

So far I have no issues with the Microsoft WDM update drivers. The driver version is 5.12.8.1201 dated 06/18/2007.

I'd think probably not. I'm not sure the extent to which MS enforces things working properly, but I do know that they won't certify things that have major bugs like known BSODs and so on. Given that the X-Fi drivers do seem to have some real problems (like the 4GB bug, audio dropouts when task switching and so on) I am going to imagine that they can't get certification.

are the current vista drivers any good, not these but I downloaded the otherones did they fix the issues?

got 'em, w/no restart neccessary through device manager...
quote: vista driver?
vista driver have been good for a good while now. Good to see Creative is staying consistant w/driver releases and got all the bugs worked out.
In audio driver terms, I may be overstanding my position when I say "for a good while now"*
