new MB for WHS

[mobilecommand]

Howdy,

i am looking to build a new WHS and i am having trouble selecting a MB with DDR 3. I dont exactly see windows 2003 drivers for them but it appears the xp drives should look fine.

i plan on adding in 2x of the supermicro 8 port jbod cards and maybe a intel gig nic depeding on the MB i may need to add in a pci video card as well.

let me know what you think.

thanks

scratch the NF980 for sure.. worthless motherboard..

stick with the 785g or 790GX(anything that starts with a G) since both will have onboard video which will mean that you can use the PCI-e x16/x8 lanes for raid/jbod sata cards instead of having to worry about how many ports come on the motherboard its self..

i am partial to the gigabyte UD series becuase they have solid caps. I have seen many video cards and motherboard's caps leak with in 4 years. ideally your WHS is going to last for at min 4 years without hardware changing.

so any of the asus and gigabyte will work but i like the UD series

both the asus boards are a nice choice. i have two friends running the 790x and there happy with them.
