New LG IPS LED Backlight monitors when?

Any1 know any further information on when the new LG IPS LED backlight monitors are coming out? will it be at the end of this year or even longer stretching into next year? Im wondering cause if its going to be more than 3-4 months then ill just go ahead and get the Dell u2311, but if theres new lg ones, im guessing its gonna be better right?
 
I wish i knew. I check LGs site now and then to see if its listed but nothing so far.
 
Not sure when but I though they were being released Q1-Q2 2011 , I'll be interested in seeing how these fair though since LG makes the majority of the low cost ips panels. Perhaps they got the overall tinting issue fixed finally.
 
hrm that seems pretty good, january isnt too far away also. U think itll be better than the u2311? or is that something that can only be known after its released

Its NEC so it should be a step above whatever Dell (or really LG) is producing. But expect a healthy price increase to accompany it.
 
The Prad.de site quotes a sale price in Japan (source: Japanese media) at ~37.000 yen, i.e. about €330 or $460. But i'm not sure if the original price includes VAT or other taxes wich are not relevant to the US, or whether NEC products are cheaper or more expensive in the US compared to Japan.

There is however a 23 inch NEC LED TN panel thats around $300 right now for sale on Newegg. There's a 23 inch NEC IPS panel for $329 as well so perhaps it won't cost that much. If thats the case then this new IPS panel will be a lower end one without all the features of the much more expensive 24 inch cousin.

well is it LED backlit(cluster led) or led edge lit(same as CCFL but LED instead)?

if it's edge lit, it should not cost much more.
 
isn't mac using IPS LED already for their monitors? I heard IPS-LED combo resulted in a defficient percentage of displayed gamut (72% vs 110% on IPS LCDs)

Edge lit without a doubt (I still don't understand why people cream their pants over this). I don't even know if consumer-level full array led monitors even exist.

EDIT:

Looking at the specs for the EA232WMi, it has DVI, DisplayPort, and VGA. As much I hate the recent trend of monitors being reclassified into glorified TVs, if you're going to go with 1920x1080 it seems kind of silly to not throw in HDMI just to complete the transformation.
