New Lenvo PC w/ Vista Business - No Internet at all

Ok, get this new box for a customer,

Unpack it, set it up, remove norton trial, and then realize it WILL NOT connect to the internet.

The only message i see is " Network Access : Local Only "

Ive tried plugging in hard IP addresses, nothing, removed NIC card and reinstalled drivers, nothing.

Ive tried everything I can think of short of reinstalling VISTA to get this to work.

Also tried the norton removal tool, thinking that its removing screwed up vista.

Nothing is working. The machine will PING internally, but not EXTERNALLY.
 
Yeah I ran into the same issue on our new Lenovo machines at work. After initially uninstalling the Symantec software, I wasn't able to get to the Internet. Knowing Symantec was the culprit, I ran that tool and everything was fine thereafter.
 
i lied

it worked for maybe 10 mins, restarted after installing some other office software and came back

opened a ticket up with Lenovo.... Its a deff. a Vista issue
 
Well, if it worked initially after removing some reg keys, why not run a registry cleaner like the one from CCleaner?
