hey everyone

im ordering my new parts in the next day or two

my current build is

antec neopower 480w
leadtek px6600gt tdh (pcie)
2x 512mb corsair xms-3200xl ram
1x western digital 120gb hdd (7200rpm, 8mb cache etc)
msi neo4-fi sli mobo (in case i decide to stick another 6600gt in later)
athlon64 3200+ winchester

any comments/ suggestions you have?

basically this is the price limit, anything more expensive cant be done

i already have a antec 1000amg plusview, mx510 and sennheiser hd 497 headphones so im set as far as those items are concerned

wow i almost did the same thing as you, except i went with the dfi sli board instead, i guess its all up to the features you want. i just hear g00d overclocking from the past few dfi boards and if you overclock, might want to check the dfi out. everything else looks good, if you could squeeze out more $$ i would say at least try to get a 6800, but if you really are strapped for $$ the 6600GT should be fine.

looks pretty decent to me.... I know how painful it is to buy hardware outsinde the US knowing that you can get everything much cheaper there...
ps. as for the T-nm's post - he's kinda right... these threads are getting pretty annoying...

well i dont really have anywhere else to ask it

there is techimo.com

but you guys just seem to have the best knowledge on basically everything computer related :)

I'd wait for the 3700+ San Diego to come out and save more money to offset the cost difference. A 1mb A64 processor is really nice and much more responsive than a 512kb cache A64. I can vouch for this from apples to apples experience.

I offer a "friendly" reminder about the first rule on the list. Remember? The rules you agreed to when you registered....??

If you have nothing constructive to add to a thread......don't post. Pretty simple.

Thanks - B.B.S.

hey guys, one last question..

would is see more performance if i went with an x800xl and only one stick of the 512 mb xms3200xl

or would i see more performance with the 6600gt and 2x xms3200xl?

Dont settle for less than 1gig of memory. Today I was messing around with a single 512 stick, and my computer started lagging with a lot of browser windows and stuff open. Games these days really need that 1 gig. The 6600GT is a robust video card. It will do you good for 1280x1024 and moderate eye candy. The 6800 is close in price, and is good for 1280x1024 and high eye candy.
