I have the Dell E207WFP right now but I was thinking of getting either the Dell 2407 or the NEC 20WMGX2. I know the prices are roughly the same and the NEC is 20.1 while the Dell a 24". I have a ATI X1900Xt 512mb for a video card so I can run the 24" but I've read the NEC is awesome. Any help?

Depends on what you want. The NEC has higher contrast and higher brightness, so it'll look nicer, but the Dell is bigger, and can accept alot more inputs.

It'll be up to you.

I've used the Dell, and while it's nice, I'd love more contrast... But the contrast the Dell has, is pretty much as good as a crt.

Really depends on how good your eyes are.

My advice, try a colorblind test, if you can see everything PERFECTLY CLEARLY, to the point where you can easily see them from 2 feet away, then get the NEC.

Depends what you will be doing on it and what your most critical about. If you like taking photos and doing tight tolerance stuff the NEC is easy to like and I use one Myself. For gaming maybe another monitor. NEC can smoke thin graphics and make them look worse. The 2 or 3 hundred dollar monitor might be better for that stuff. I don't like spending a lot with Dell because they seem to have too many systemic issues.

Any manufacturer who sells as much stuff as Dell will see a lot of people in forums with problems - so just because 20 people with Dell problem may post in a week and only 10 of other brand doesn't mean Dell is bad. The thing I don't like with Dell is 18 of the 20 people will have same problem. Dell seems to have waves of issues that to me signify poor planning, manufacture, quality control and customer understanding.

As Seagte CEO Bill Watkins said a few weeks ago: "The 90s were all about the enterprise, and that's why Dell did so well. Now, it's all about the consumer, and that's why Dell is having problems. They don't understand the consumer. They want a competitor to the iPod and what do they do? They go with Creative."

You can see where Dell switching panels on a top item fits right in with that.

I still cannot decide. I will be doing gaming mainly, along with websurfing and movie watching. Is a 24" worth it over the 20" NEC when the price is so close?
