So my friend has a HP Pavlion dv9000 laptop given to him by work. Now work wants him to remove all personal files and programs.

So he needs to get a new one. Here is what he uses it for in a nutshell;
Uses Quickbook and Quicken
Internet browsing
Microsoft Office
Outlook
Dropbox

I suggest the fastest built in wireless and the LAN port to be Gb. Powerful video card is not needed. He is going to buy a few things and I am going to help him by taking out the hard drive and installing an SSD and then load Windows 7 for him or if the laptop that gets suggested has Windows 7, then I will just clone it to the SSD

That's it, any suggestions on a good laptop with a 17"?

Thanks

You definitely want a large laptop that's got a 17" screen? I generally suggest something smaller than that (17" is not really portable) but if he's sure that's what he wants there are a few options. What's the budget?

@ singe - thanks, i did not see that area. Oh my eyes are fading.

@ OrangeWolf - I asked and it is possible going to a 15" screen size. He also does real estate so he told me he wanted something that will give the greatest color and clarity for he needs to look at property pictures and land so graphics should be very decent.

He also mentioned $500 - $1000, of course if he can have a great quality computer for the lowest price, he would be happy.

Thanks again guys and how do I move this thread to the mobile area?
