Intel has the specs of all of their new processors listed here finally:

http://processorfinder.intel.com/

The new G0 Core 2 processors have had their idle C1E power dropped from 22 watts to 8 watts. The rated maximum Tcase temperature has been bumped up from 61C to 72C.

any bad side-effects? ... or does this simply mean better over-clocking with more temperature and wattage headroom?

For those that actually anable C1E, a lower rated wattage is a good thing. A G0 processor should use less power at idle, which creates less heat which results in lower idle temps.

Intel raising the official Tcase temp is Intel finally admitting that their Core processors can run reliably at high temperatures but I already knew that. :D
