I want to know if I should buy a new HS for my XP3000+ or wait and until I upgrade everything to A64 and pci-exress. The heatsink I have now is the Coolermaster Jet7 and it is extremely loud (~42db) and I'm idling around 49-50 degrees. For some reason I had to raise the voltage on the mobo from stock 1.65 to 1.725 to be stable at stock settings (mobo is maybe going bad?), so I think that maybe have raise it a few degrees, but for the most part is always idles from 47-50 degrees. ( I use cpuidle extreme to make up for the raised voltage)

One quick question, but kinda off topic. Do you think my mobo is going bad or could it be my PSU or cpu. Im running an antec tru blue 480 and it has a stable 12v voltage within 1% (11.86). Have to raise voltage .75v from stock to boot correctly isn't right.

Hello,

Well, regarding your heatsink, that main question is : "how long will you hold before your upgrade?". If you are planning to upgrade in the next month or so, then forget about it and keep as much cash as you can for your upgrade. Also, if you have had this heatsink for a long time, then, why not keep it a little while longer before doing any move?

However, if you plan to upgrade next year and just can't stand "noise/poor performance" then an upgrade on heatsink may be welcome. Plus, it will allow you to overclock a bit.

For your other question, 0.75V is for the PSU or CPU? If for the CPU, I guess it is 0.075V.. Otherwise, you would kill the CPU with that much voltage. Please clarify.

Humm, ok, reread your post. It is 0.075V. Have you tried their newest BIOS?

Also, with temps being that high for an XP3000+, this leads me to think that you are using the stock thermal pad beneath your heatsink? You could try cleaning it off and apply some AS5. But since you are posting in the overclocking forum, I but you already did this ;)
