New High End Laptop Needed

[Crowzone]

Have 2-2.5k, want the best I can get at 17inch screen size (anything bigger is too big)

I started looking for myself, but I"m not the keenest on the best places/brands when dealing with laptop computers so I require assistance of people smarter then myself.. Thanks in advance..

Hmm.. The Gateway P-173XL FX Edition is pretty high performance. T8300 2.4ghz Dual core cpu, 4gig ram, 400 gig HDD and 512MB 8800M GTS video with 1920 x 1200 display on the LCD. This is one option.

Looks good thanks -- I got a response about this one as well, anyone have any ideas about it?

Agreed. I'm very pleased with my P-6860FX, they're a good series of machines from what I've seen so far.

Good specs. But, only 1680 x 1050 res max on the LCD. Also, personally i don't like the looks of it. I see this at Best Buy and don't like. But, it's just me.

max resolution is not important because I'm helping price out a high end lappy for someone who is visually impaired and will not be using it at native resolution anyways..

(and yes, bigger screened desktops may seem better but portability is a big factor for this situation)

Those are some pretty impressive specs for the size and price. Nice warranty too. The hard drive would need an upgrade though. I also don't see where the OS is listed.

Edit: Just noticed the customize button. With an OS, WUXGA, and better HD it's up to $2k. To me the gateway looks better, however the sager is more portable.

Sager is also more reliable and have higher quality control.

Go with Sager, you wont regret it. Check out the 17"er's from these resellers:

Sagernotebooks.com
pctorque.com
powernotebooks.com

All highly recommended sites for Sager notebook quality and customer care.
A fully pimped notebook (most powerful would probably be the Sager 9262) would cost around your price range. Sports 9800GTX's SLI.

Best power for size ratio would probably be the 8660 recommended by PeeWeePee

Damn. Those Sagers are pretty bad ass. I must say.

+1 for Sager.

For $2500 you get Quad Core and SLI as mentioned above.

I've had 2 Sager laptops in the past and loved both of them. Their laptops are awesome.
