New heavy hitter

Well.....

Musky, tear, patriot, firedfly, core32 and dwdawg.... you have your new target :p

That sudden deluge of daily points and WUs looks more like someone burning in a rack of servers rather than a basement farm.
Will be interesting to see how long the "spigot" is on.
Impressive start up for sure.

EDIT: Read the thread, it isn't "ComputekInc.us" but RamonetB they are talking about...

Definitely would suggest a rack doing a sort of burn in. Highly doubt this would be sustained for any length of time.

If it is a basement rack the cops will be showing up to bust the "farm"

Yeah yeah yeah, that they may... Quit trying to deflect the attention away from yourself. We're onto you.

I can hardly see how you can make such a claim..... look at the puppy!

Without clicking the link, I can only assume it is Monty Python and the search for the Holy Grail.

You can kill the monster with the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch!

Run for cover K..... the bunny will distract them

I topped a rabbit earlier this week... kinda felt sorry for the person who was walking her dog towards it... (my feelings regarding the rabbit? a slight bump)

Anyhow... now that the rabbit is buried....

I dunno who this guy is...those are definitely not his... judging by his avg....but we don't know how long he will have access to it...

he just posted this on OCforums

WOW. I didn't know I was making that kind of noise.

I guess I should demystify things a bit, huh? (Ah, but we all do love mysteries!) I don't get on the forums much these days (and I do miss that CPU database) thus my tardiness in posting. But first, a big thanks to all of your well wishes! There's no one out their like folders and, among them, none like those here at Overclockers!

Adak, you're mostly right. It's not a business but, as Macaholic pointed out, good ol' Penn State University in Happy Valley. The department I work for has recently purchased a new HPC Cluster. 47 nodes of 2P Interlagos goodness. So, 32 processors per node.

Last friday, the system was finally in a state to be powered on for the first time. Now, with every new server / cluster / mission critical workstation, I do a burn-in for a week or so looking for weaknesses. I know the necessity of a burn-in is often debated, but I've found enough faulty components in new equipment that it's just part of my routine now. It also allows me to test the heating/cooling and power issues that may arise during heavy usage. Folding has been my go-to choice for maxing CPU loads. So, the bare bones cluster was let lose (and I did find some cooling issues that must be addressed in our cluster facility. Better now than when the users are beating on it).

Special thanks to Adak, I.M.O.G and Chasr, for somewhere in there during the Chimp Challenge, one or more of you mentioned the "bigadv" flag. I'd never heard of it and promptly set about looking into it. In the end, each node in the new cluster was running a bigadv WU. This is where the insane number of points is coming from. Each node produces about 260,000 ppWU and a WU takes about 30-36 hours to complete. Recall, these aren't 4P nodes (we looked at those, but the infrastructure to support 4P nodes was at such a cost that we could get more overall processors with straight 1U 2P systems).

So, the good news is TSC Russia is now much further in the distance, perhaps even a year off now, and I'm very glad to be able to boost Team32's (whom I consider an alma mater for everything I know about OC and Thermal management) folding output.

The bad news is that this is not sustainable. Within the next week or so, once all the new software is installed, the burn-in period will be over, and we'll move to the next phase of testing custom code.

But, until then, she folds proudly for Team32!

-Kirk

P.S. Don't worry, the boss is aware of my burn in process. :comp:

I'm not sure if he realizes that he is #1 in ppd in the entire project right now, heh

He knows - we told him! :p

Great boost for the project, and T32, of course.
