hi all!
i bought a laptop this summer. a medion akoya which is a msi wind clone from a local discounter.
i found out that the msi wind and it's clones have a very active modding community.
i started with a very simple mod, i ordered a new and better heatsink from aquacomputer and installed it.
here is the back of the akoya with the new hs and the tool i used to pop open the case: a pick
the open akoya:
i removed the old hs (which is in fact only a sheet of metal) and cleaned the nb and cpu
here you can see the old and the new hs next to each other.
new hs installed with a little bit of arctic silver 5:
i assembled the laptop and here you can see that it is still working
this shot is taken shortly after i did a quick load test.
the new hs greatly improved the cooling, the fan doesn't spin up that often anymore in idle and the atom 1,6ghz cpu reaches 54C° under load.
