Do the headphones cut out in a similar way when hooked up to other sources? Have you tried any other sets of headphones hooked up to your sound card?

Sound cutting out at random intervals could be a problem with any part of the audio chain.

Could just be the cable connector getting old. Might be able to fix that.

Why the Ultrasones? Pretty differerent sounding than the ad700. You just gaming with these or what?

Gaming and listening to electronic and metal music. So I also want something that has more bass than the ad700s.

The cans give me the same problem when hooked up to my phone. I'll try replacing the cable connector.

I'd sooner bet cable rot is the cause than the connector...sporadic coming and going sound doesn't say blown speakers to me.

The Ultrasone is a good choice. If you want more bass and considering your musical tastes, you might look at BeyerDynamic 770s too.

I like my Sennheiser 558s for everything. Amazon usually has deals on them.

I love rock and i just got a pair of BeyerDynamic DT770 Pro 80s (i got mine used for $80~ ...found them in the used gear at gc)

these are so fun and awesome for rock ... lot (whole lot) of bass ...not not so much as to wreck the music... but plenty of bass for the music you like these would be awesome choice I think.

there also have the ATH-M50 (great sound / build quality ...I own these as well) and the shure 440/840 and Sony MDR-7506 (the shure's and sony are brighter however...)

in my mine if you could spend the money the DT770 are the best (and least portable..... if that matter to you) of the stuff talked about thus far... I can wear mine for hours and hours comfortably.

oh hey, black (pre) friday deal $105~ ath-m50s

I decided on the ultrastones, these things are awesome except for the fucking cables.
I'd consider the dt770s if I had an amp.
