I've discovered a hardware issue in my WHS 2011 machine. I need a recommendation for a new mobo, CPU, and ram. I also need onboard video or a cheap video card recommendation too. My current setup requires 8 SATA ports, so any mobo recommendations should have 8 ports or include an I/O card. I don't need anything too powerful and cost is a strong consideration. See my sig for the specs of the existing (problematic) server.

Thanks

So, about $310 + Shipping, - MIRs.

The reason I went with so high a clocked i3 (3.7Ghz) is that the price differential between the quoted chip and the 3.4-3.6Ghz was $5. The next big jump to 3.8Ghz is $25.

I'd wanted to go MicroATX to give you a smaller footprint. But the only 8-port SATA board at that size was north of $200.

Honestly? I wouldn't.

The i3 is a nice, cool-running 54W CPU
The FM2+ chips are a combination of 65W and 95W.

However, in all fairness, currently, I'm an Intel snob. ESPECIALLY for chipsets (having had some AWESOME AMD CPU setups that were absolutely FUCKED by shitty, flaky chipsets).

I'm also a massive non-fan of AMD/ATI drivers in general and in terms of stability in the specific.

The FM2+ setup MIGHT be slightly cheaper overall.
But it'll eat more power (though to be honest, it'd take several years to make up even the slight price difference) in the long run and run hotter.
