ok well I ordered an 80 gb west.digital SATA drive from newegg and when i tired to install windows it formatted fine and then when installing it would get a stop error. So I RMA'ed it and got another one and guess what?? its doing the same thing. Is there anyhting special I have to do for Sata drives?? Do you guys think they have a bad batch of them down at egg? or is this just horrible luck? thanks ahead of time. Oh and also i've tried multipe copies of windows and it still does it.

did you install your SATA controller drivers at the beginning of installing windows? When it says to press F6 to install a 3rd party SCSI or RAID controller? I forgot to do this too when I got an SATA drive and it took me a while to figure out what was wrong.

That seems awfully premature to RMA a hard drive just because you got a BSOD. Read your manual on how to use to SATA controllers.

well i enabled SATA in the bios and it recognizes the drive and formats it so I thought that it should be working ......i'll try those ideas and get back to you guys. THANKS.

are you sure you have to press F6 and install a sata controller.....It says scsi and raid but not sata. I dont even think my mobo came with sata controller disk. I looked in the Manual and it didnt say any special instructions on using sata. I dont know what to do here lol im lost!! HELP!!

yeah my mobo came with a disk and the instructions said to install the drivers when it says press F6. Are you sure you dont have a disk with the drivers on it? If not, perhaps they are on the mobo manufactrer's website that you can download.

Try Looking Here Look for RAID drivers

yeah i have the RAID drivers but im not using RAID.....so why would I need to isntall them? Sorry this is my 1st time messing with sata.

thats what I figured too which is why it took me so long to figure it out. However, those are the drivers you need. Just try it out...cant hurt can it?

nope no dice.....now it just freezes when installing (no stop error). Anymore ideas??

Do I need to enable raid in the BIOS too??? SATA already was but raid wasnt. I guess I'll send em' another drive back if I cant figure this out.

Also I cant find any SATA drivers .....I have the raid drivers but no sata ones. and is there any special configuring i have to do? just in case you guys want to know, I have the DFI lanparty NF2 ultra rev A. Thanks in advance.

help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
