Hi All,
I was just wondering if you guys can help me me ???....here is my situation.....I want to upgrade my exsisting SATA drive to a "faster" drive it is a Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB Serial ATA II 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer...this drive is in an Asus A8V-Deluxe with an AMD64 3200+...The drive is very quiet but the system seems to "just feel laggy"

What is the closest drive in performance to a 74 gig Raptor ???

I had a Raptor in there for about a week and the system felt much more "zippier" but I returned it due to the noise levels when the drive was seeking it sounded like there were marbles in the drive !!!

I was thinking if I bought another Raptor to possibly put it in a removable SATA Mobile Rack maybe that would quiet it down...the seek noises were my only issue !!!

Actually storage space is not really a concern as I use a P4 3.06 w/2 gigs of ram and (2) 320 gig drives in raid 1 as my NAS system (networked attached storage) and also the 250 gig drive will become a storage drive

any suggestions would be helpful....Thanks...shkj

Your reprieve from lagginess was more than likely caused by a fresh install of your OS on the Raptor.
